LABOR DAY

In the Philippines, Labor Day is also known as "Araw ng mga Manggagawa" and is celebrated on May 1st every year. It is a national holiday that recognizes the contributions and sacrifices of Filipino workers to the country's progress and development.

The significance of Labor Day in the Philippines dates back to the early 20th century, when Filipino workers fought for better working conditions, higher wages, and the right to organize and form labor unions. In 1903, the first Labor Day was celebrated in the Philippines as a way to honor the struggles and achievements of the labor movement.

Today, Labor Day in the Philippines is a time to pay tribute to the country's workers, especially those in the formal and informal sectors who have been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also an opportunity to raise awareness about labor issues and to advocate for the rights and welfare of workers, including fair wages, safe working conditions, and social protections.

In the Philippines, Labor Day is often marked by rallies, demonstrations, and other forms of peaceful protest organized by labor groups and workers' organizations. It is a reminder of the ongoing struggle for social justice and the need for continued advocacy and action to protect the rights and interests of Filipino workers.
