KANNAWIDAN YLOCOS FESTIVAL

reference: ILadawan

Kannawidan Festival is usually celebrated every last week of January to first two weeks of February.
The Ylocos Kannawidan Festival opens with a beautiful fireworks display that amazed and marked the opening of festival.

Me and my family went to the Tawid ken Kultura, Ilocos Sur Trade and Food Expo. It is a trade fair that promotes the local products of different towns in Ilocos Sur. It is filled with furniture, handicrafts, floriculture nurseries, research-based products and innovations, food and refreshment, and dry goods.

For me Kannawidan Festival is very important because this festival is a showcase of indigenous performances, religious rituals, as well cooking demos featuring the best of Ilocano dishes. There are a lot of activities for Kannawidan which include traditional games, cultural shows, fireworks display, comedy nights, entertainment, food fest, pet shows, and competitions

WE

March is generally acknowledged as Women's Month, a time to honor and appreciate the important contributions that women have made to community. The theme of this year's celebration is "WE for gender equality and an inclusive society." This month-long festival is intended to raise awareness about women's fight for gender equality and rights. It is a moment to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women to society. It is time to celebrate women's accomplishments in numerous sectors while also acknowledging the hurdles they confront in achieving gender equality.

Women have always played an important part in shaping the world we live in. Women have made major contributions to our society, from the feminists who battled for women's right to vote to the women who have broken down glass ceilings in politics, business, and other sectors. Women have also played an important role in raising families, building communities, and developing the next generation of leaders.

Despite these achievements, women remain enormous hurdles in achieving gender equality. Wome continue to be paid less than males for doing the same job, remain underrepresented in leadership roles, and endure discrimination and harassment in many parts of their lives. Women continue to confront barriers to healthcare, education, and other fundamental necessities.

During Women's Month, we have the chance to recognize women's accomplishments, highlight the issues they confront, and pledge to working toward gender equality. We may support groups that empower women, fight for gender equality policies, and educate ourselves and others about the importance of gender equality.

Finally, Women's Month is a moment to recognize the achievements of women to our society as well as the obstacles they continue to encounter. It is time to commit to working toward gender equality and to assisting women in reaching their full potential. We can all work together to make the world a more just and equitable place.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated annually on February 14th. It is a day when people express their love and affection towards their romantic partners, friends, and family members by exchanging gifts, cards, and other tokens of appreciation. Opinions about Valentine's Day are divided. Some people love the holiday and enjoy expressing their love and appreciation for their significant others, family members, and friends. Others believe that the holiday is overly commercialized and puts too much pressure on people to spend money on gifts and extravagant gestures.

This year's Valentine's Day wasn't really my day. When I woke up, I wasn't really feeling well; my head and stomach hurt, but I still went to school because I didn't want to miss classes, and me and my friends had already made plans for that day. On that day, I didn't really expect to receive anything, but once I entered the room, my classmate and best friend Ryza gave me a paper flower bouquet made by her. After a while, just as I thought I was already feeling okay, my head and stomach hurt even more, and I decided to go home, so I called my mama to pick me up. Arriving at our house, Mama decided that we would go to the hospital because my little sister was also feeling sick. After talking to the doctor, she prescribed me a vitamin and a medicine, but my little sister needed to be admitted.  After that, I went home alone, packed some clothes for Mama and Ading and other things that they needed at the hospital, and rested after and didn’t go to school for 2 days.

My Valentine's Day mustn't have been really good, but I'm still thankful that nothing worse happened.

Viva Vigan!

Vigan City Fiesta is usually held every year on late January.  It is celebrated during the feast day of the conversion of St. Paul the Apostle. St. Paul is Vigan City’s patron saint. Before his conversion, St. Paul was known as Saul, a zealous persecutor of Christians. After he was touched by a personal encounter with Jesus Christ on his way to Damascus, his name was changed to Paul, and he endured a lot of hardships and danger to spread the word of God to faraway places. Every year, the local government prepares cultural shows, parades, and longganisa street dancing. There are also food fairs, arts and crafts exhibits, and a visiting carnival.

Longganisa Street Dancing is one of the event that people looks forward to. It is a festival where
dancers from different schools and cities compete. It includes different kinds of instruments, which make the performance entertaining and gives the dance life. The dancers hold a plate with a fake longganisa.

Carnival or what we call " Karnabalan" is a public enjoyment and entertainment place where there are a lot of fun rides, food fairs, perya games like darts throwing, coin tossing, and a lot more fun games. Come and visit the beauty of Vigan. Viva Vigan!

Halfway there!

Time flies so fast; the second quarter is also over. Just like the first quarter, the second quarter is also fun and stressful at the same time. But I found this quarter easier than the first quarter, and I am proud of myself for doing better than I did last quarter.

During the second quarter, we focused more on activities about HTML, and I learned and gained a lot of new knowledge about it. I've learned about tags, how to add BG images, BG colors, frames, tables, and a lot more.

Even though I mentioned that this quarter was a lot easier, I still encountered a lot of challenges and problems. I still find the activities hard, especially when I can't get the right results. Sometimes we have a lot of assignments or a lot of quizzes in a day, which results in me sleeping late in order to finish the assignments or review. and because I slept late, I sometimes fell asleep during some of my classes or during breaks, but it's worth it because I get high scores, and I even get perfect scores sometimes. Sometimes, I also find some lessons hard, but I'm grateful to have my friends and classmates to help me and help me understand the lessons. I am also grateful for our wonderful teachers, who are willing to help us every time we encounter difficulties.

"Success is not final; failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts." Winston Churchill

This quote captures the essence of what "Halfway There" means. It reminds us that success is not assured and that failures can occur, but that the determination and strength to continue ultimately determine the outcome. We can do great things if we keep focused and persevere, even when things get difficult. This saying is a source of inspiration and motivation for us, encouraging us to never give up and to constantly keep moving forward.

Better Me

"A new year is like a blank book. The pen is in your hands. It is your chance to write a beautiful story for yourself."

The New Year is a time of regeneration and celebration, marking the conclusion of one year and the start of another. It is a moment to reflect on the previous year and create new goals for the next year. People all across the world celebrate New Year's Eve in a variety of ways, with customs ranging from fireworks and parties to religious rites and peaceful introspection. The New Year's celebration is an opportunity to leave behind the mistakes and regrets of the past and begin again with a clean slate. It's time to work on yourself and set new objectives and desires for the future. People frequently make New Year's resolutions to improve their health, relationships, finances, or personal development. As people gather to celebrate the start of a new year, New Year also marks a time of peace and togetherness. The spirit of the New Year is one of joy and positivity, whether it is meeting with family and friends for a festive feast or watching the fireworks light up the night sky.

"Better me" means the aspiration or goal of personal growth and self-improvement. It refers to the idea that individuals can strive to become a better version of themselves by working on their strengths, overcoming weaknesses, and making positive changes in their lives. In this new year, I am not planning to change me; instead, I'm focusing on becoming a better me. I will be a better version of myself. And in order to achieve this, I will start by loving and accepting myself more, being open to learning new things and skills, and being stronger. Better mindset, better goals, better confidence, a better life, and a better me.

The start of a new year can be a great time to reflect on the past and set goals for the future. While the phrase "better me" can be motivating, it is important to remember that true change requires effort and dedication. By setting specific, achievable goals and being kind and patient with yourself, you can work towards personal growth and improvement in the new year.

A lot happened in 2022. I learned, discovered, and experienced new things. I met a lot of amazing new people and made new friends. 2022 was full of memories that I will always treasure and remember, whether happy or sad. I am very grateful for 2022, but I hope 2023 will be better for me and for you.

The Most Magical Time of the Year!

As we all know, Christmas is celebrated every month of December. Traditionally, Christmas is a religious holiday to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. The Philippines, like any other Catholic and Christian country in the world, celebrates Christmas, but for a much longer period of time. Christmas is one of the most important holidays for Filipinos. Filipinos enjoy spending Christmas with their families, relatives, and friends. It is the time of year when Filipino families normally gather together and do things together with a lot of fun, energy, and festivity.

Without a doubt, celebrating Christmas these past few years was a bit different because of the pandemic. But gladly, since COVID is not too bad now, celebrating Christmas this year was a bit different. And on this blog, I'm going to share with you my Christmas for 2022.

After two school years of not having a Christmas program at school, finally, on December 14, we had a Christmas program before the Christmas break, which was a lot of fun. where our whole class and our adviser planned very well for our Christmas program. Like we always say, "Christmas is a season of giving and sharing," so we came up with the idea of sharing a little of what we have. Our entire class contributed to our small project, "Tulong-Bigay, Paskong Makulay," where we gave a little pack of food to street children around Vigan. It was fun seeing their cute and beautiful smiles whenever we gave them food and hearing them say "thank you."

And after that, we headed back to our school to enjoy our Christmas program. During our Christmas program, we had a little cute and fun awarding, where I received the award of "Best in Notes." We played a lot of fun games, took pictures, jammed, ate the food that each group contributed, and exchanged gifts. I was so happy to experience it again.

I'm also sharing with you my Christmas with my family. My grandmother and her siblings arranged "Romena's Christmas Party" on the night of December 24, which was also a lot of fun because, after 2 years, we were able to celebrate Christmas all together again. They prepared a lot of prizes for the fun games like bingo, spin the wheel, and a lot of other fun games. We also exchanged gifts and had Noche Buena all together. Our program was finished around 2 a.m., and on December 25, we had lunch by the beach and played a lot of games again, and at night we went to one of my grandmother's siblings' house where we had dinner and had a little caroling.

Christmas is a time of love, hope, and joy. It is a holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and the message of peace, kindness, and generosity that he brought to the world. During this time of the year, we come together with our loved ones to exchange gifts, sing carols, and spread happiness to those around us. Whether you celebrate Christmas for its religious or cultural significance, it is a time to reflect on what truly matters in life- love, kindness, and the spirit of giving.
